Blood cancers and blood disorders are more prevalent than we think.
A South African is diagnosed with one every 72 minutes with Black, Coloured, Indian, and Asian patients only have a 19% chance of finding their donor match and reaching transplant because of the ethnic underrepresentation on the global registry. White patients have a 75% chance of finding a match. No patient should die because there is no matching donor for them.
Health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition. Furthermore, Section 27 of the South African Constitution states that everyone has the right to access health care services.
I, Tumi Sole, have teamed up with DKMS Africa to educate and create awareness within Black communities in South Africa and call upon them to register as blood stem cell donors to help save lives.
It's free, not dependent on blood type, and requires no surgery.
Join me in the fight against blood cancer by registering as a blood stem cell donor, now!
