Kea Needs a Stem Cell Donor

A Match Could Change Kea's Story

10-year-old Kea was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) in June 2025 after ongoing pain and discomfort led to further testing. Today, her education is on hold while she undergoes treatment, and a stem cell transplant could offer hope for the future.

What began as persistent pain and discomfort soon became a source of concern for Kea's family. After an initial assessment by a local doctor, she was referred to a larger hospital for specialised care and further testing.

In June 2025, Kea was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). Due to the seriousness of her condition, she remained under hospital care following her referral and was unable to return home immediately.

Today, much of Kea's time is spent attending hospital appointments for treatment, blood transfusions, medication, and ongoing monitoring. While many children her age are focused on school and spending time with friends, Kea's education has been placed on hold while she focuses on her health.

Throughout her treatment journey, Kea has been supported by her family. She is the second-born of three children, and both her parents continue to play an active role in her care. Their support helps her face each challenge with strength and determination.

For many patients diagnosed with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant offers the best chance of recovery. Every new person who joins the stem cell donor registry helps increase the chances of finding a life-saving match for patients searching for hope.

You could help give Kea, and other patients like her, a chance at a healthier future. Register today as a stem cell donor.

Remember, all costs related to the donation process are taken care of by DKMS Africa. You will not be asked to pay for anything.
