Xoliswa Needs Your Help!

Help Give Xoliswa More Time With Her Children

Xoliswa from Gauteng was diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia earlier this year. Her second chance at life relies on the kindness of a stranger like you. Register today

Earlier this year, mum of two, Xoliswa, found herself struggling with recurrent infections. Struggling to go through a day without experiencing pain, she eventually sought medical attention at her local clinic where she was prescribed anti-biotics. After persistent bleeding, a never ending migraine, and weakness in the body, Xoliswa found herself not being able to walk properly around the house. This pointed to a bigger issue.

After some tests, she was eventually referred to Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital where she received her Aplastic Anaemia diagnosis in May. Xoliswa now relies on bi-monthly blood transfusions- a process she often dreads but knows it is for her better health.

Speaking on her diagnosis Xoliswa says it was an adjustment as she had to come to terms with what it meant exactly. “Before I was diagnosed, I had never heard of Aplastic Anaemia. Even explaining to my friends and family has proven difficult as it is not an illness that is common”.

For Xoliswa, as quiet as she is, her community has been integral to her journey. Her main focus now is educating everyone around her about her illness and its effects.

She strongly hopes to find a match soon so she can continue to be a dedicated mother to her two children. Your registration can be the difference maker in Xoliswa’s life, potentially granting her more time with her children.
