Only you can keep the bell of hope ringing
Support the fight against blood cancer by raising funds to keep the Bell of Hope ringing.
When a blood cancer patient finds a matching stem cell donor, the DKMS Africa team rings the Bell of Hope in their honour, which represents the hope that a second chance at life can bring. Unfortunately, for some patients, the Bell of Hope is never rung.
Blood cancer patients are faced with many challenges and the cost of treatment is one of them. We are asking you to help us make sure that they have one less thing to worry about, by donating towards covering the costs of swab kits and high-resolution tissue typing essential to finding life-saving matches for patients diagnosed with life-threatening blood cancers and disorders.
When the bell rang for Mackenzie
Mackenzie was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia at only 4 months old. Mackenzie has undergone a stem cell transplant and stem cell therapy currently remains part of her ongoing treatment.
The day the bell fell silent
Tshegofatso (6) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and needed a lifesaving stem cell transplant for a second chance at life. She held on for three years before she sadly succumbed to her illness. We never got to ring the Bell of Hope for Tshegofatso.
Kethan's parents live in hope
Bubbly 3-year-old Kethan has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and needs a matching donor blood stem cell transplant for a brighter future. Currently, there isn’t a matching donor on the global registry. We’re asking you to help us save his life.
