Keamogetswe's Success Story

A stranger gave Keamogetswe a second chance at life.

For years, hospital wards became a second home for Keamogetswe and his mother. But thanks to a matching stem cell donor, Keamogetswe received a stem cell transplant and a second chance at life.

In 2024, Keamogetswe developed a severe infection and was admitted to hospital. As his condition worsened, weeks of treatment turned into months of uncertainty. Further tests eventually revealed the cause.

“When they finally told us it was Severe Aplastic Anaemia, I was scared because I had never heard of the disease before,” recalls his mother, Salome.

After months of treatment and regular transfusions, the family finally received the news they had been hoping for. In January 2025, Salome received a life-changing phone call: a potential matching stem cell donor had been found for her son.

Keamogetswe went on to receive his stem cell transplant and successfully passed the critical first 100 days of recovery. He is now doing well, his hospital visits have reduced significantly, and he is attending school more regularly.

“Someone I will probably never meet decided to register as a stem cell donor,” says Salome. “Because of that decision, my son is here today, and I would just like to say thank you. If more people register, more families can get the chance we were given.”

Consider becoming a blood or stem cell donor today and give hope to those whose lives depend on it.

If you’re between the ages of 17–55 and in good health, register today. Your could save a life.
